Well, I can say that within the hour the After-Hourz community will no longer be supporting IW products. We tried to do the best work possible, creating maps, mods, models and admin tools for the community. We worked through a lot of struggles due to thin support from the developers and I think we did a pretty damn fine job in the end.
It really is too bad that things ended this way for CoD2. I was a very optimistic guy right up until I took the box from the cashier's hand last fall...then I read the box and manual thoroughly and realized what we got and more importantly, what we didn't get. That, for me and AHz, was the beginning of the end. A few of us, even though disappointed, held out hope that there would atleast be tools by early December and worst case, end of the year. Now, all these months later, nothing. Still.
I could rant and b1tch and complain more, but it's pointless. I think that through all of this it needs to say something when an entire team of guys, who together contributed 10s of thousands of hours to this franchise, are turned away in disgust to never return.
That is the legacy of CoD2.
The SP was great, I loved every moment. But the life of a PC game is MP. I should have listened to IB from day one "...MP is an afterthought...they'll put 4% of their time into it if that...". There are many words to throw around about how I, and many of my friends feel, but in the end, nothing will impact those in control of the situation.
Just know this, Grant, your mod community comment could not be more prophetic. You've pushed away one of the most dedicated and contributing teams your franchise had.
I will still wander by to observe the struggle, and I still love UO, but I'm not going to dedicate another minute to fighting or bashing over CoD2. There are far better and more interesting challenges ahead. Good luck to those of you with the stamina to hang on. I think you will need it.
Trotzdem weiterhin Viel Erfolg.
